A kind of angry protest poem, focused on environmental issues |
| Your greed and your money have obstructed your eyes; Tangled your values, turned truth into lies You said “clean air act” yet you polluted our skies Now you will dig up Alaska for your oil enterprise You build pipelines for oil, out timber and steel, Preventing hundreds of caribou from reaching a meal Your crimes done to nature, you may try to conceal But when Earth starts to crumble, then how will you feel? You are chopping our forests; you are breaking our trust We needed your help; you left us screaming – unjust! While you searched for black oil with such passion, such lust. Will you even notice when the earth turns to dust? Some call you a leader, but you cannot lead me ‘Til you can treasure the woodlands, the plains, and the sea Defend what you have, or I guarantee- You’ll be standing in rubble; a pile of debris. |
