A poem of yearning, for lovers apart. |
| Autumn Wishes Autumn mists, Bluebells sleep 'Midst the rain-soaked, Silent, spell-bound, streets. Autumn winds Strong and swift-- Bear these words across the world To lull my heart's very own to sleep. Autumn moon Gleaming bright-- Shine a path across the waves to guide his dreamsake to my side. Radiant moon-- Pour your midnight noon Upon my sweetheart's sea of dreams, And let him see what he means to me; Lead him back, oh swiftly, back to me. NB The phrase 'pour your midnight noon' is taken from a poem by Robert Bridges, one-time poet laureate of England. |
