I wrote this while watching Intervention.

There's a scarecrow in heroin's garden
The veins are strangled
Silent captives for the false god
That lives behind a needle's point

The morning watches,
As the gutter water crawls
Trying to wash away the dirt
From under the future's nails

So many tears shed....
Life is too hard to swallow
With sobriety's tongue swollen-
From the thousand lies told

The only offering is the dying day
Too weak to raise the dead sparrows within
Dirty clothes frown with sagging truth,
Everything we do is for love
Or a lack of it....
