What is red?

red is the color of a flame
but still looks the same as
red in a book or blood from a head
that is newly shed
red is the color of war
but was seen years before
red is the image one sees
when thinking of conflict overseas
red is the color of death
along with black it is set
to show people that life will end
even if it's just around the bend
