It's a peom about a man who is respected |
| I am de banner man, No one can do what i can, With meh drum in meh hand, I can march through any land, I am de man dey fear, I am de one with de big ear, Justice is meh name, Protectin' de innocent is meh game. Listenin' to de people's concern, Sometimes i scribble or discern, Beatin' de wicked with meh big stick, That i assure you does do de trick, I does be watchin' dem in dey eye, Makin' sure dey tell me no lie, Then takin' meh drum i beat meh songs, Dem stories i tell about dem British Crownies. I can make 'em cry, Jus' by tellin de story 'bout our ancestors who die, I usually beat on meh drum, As cool an' liquifyin' as rum, An' when i done, I always look up at de moon or sun, Passin' meh hand on meh bald head, I follow de path i wish to tred. Travellin' to distant land so far, Meh skin had been brunt to a dark coloured tar, But people respect me for who i am, Dey offer me milk, bread and guava jam, For i Justice provide de people with laws, Which holds us together in it's claws, Justice is meh name, An' yuh know what - forever it would be de same. |
