A free verse poem about having arthritis and how it feels.
Pain in sleep, pain while awake.
Pain with no end in sight.
Pills to dull the pain,
Pills to slow it's grasp.

Steriod's to help
but they also swell your face,
Make you eat all day and into the night.
Make you angry and want to fight.

Joints that swell and hurt,
joints that become deformed.
Joints that wear down.
Joints that all to soon need to be replaced.

It hurts to move.
It hurts when you don't move.
But you push throught the pain.
You strive to live your life.

Comfort comes in many forms.
For some it is a hot shower.
For others it is a wlak in the park.
While others enjoy a nice warm swim.

For me it is writing or painting.
The touch of my husbands hand in mine.
Or just to cuddle with him.
Or taking our dog for a walk.

Relaxing on the couch whilce crochetting,
Even a nice soak in a jaccuzi.
To sit back by the fire and listen to our favorite music.
Or to relax on a warm summers day in the sun's light.
