This one of my first attempts at poetry. It is a villanelle. |
| Ignorance is the cornerstone of disaster; You start with the little things—you don’t really care. It is certain; they will come back to haunt you later. Maybe your homework; to your teacher you cannot deliver. Supposedly lost—of its location you have no idea where. Ignorance is the cornerstone of disaster. Eventually you have no need of excuses to master; At the asking of your teacher you don’t even declare Some lame defense. It will haunt your later. It becomes a habit and a lifestyle—a manner. Soon you disregard all the wisdom of people who share. Ignorance is the cornerstone of disaster. You don’t even know it, but there isn’t even a gesture. Not a clue of the things you have lost—no hope or prayer. There is no hope—only disaster. Soon it controls your life—you’ve become a failure. Disaster runs rampant and caught you unaware. Ignorance is the cornerstone of disaster, You were once self-indulgent, but now you are wayward. |
