Anticipation

Darkness surrounds you.
Eyes open or close,
it still looks the same.
Crouched into a ball,
squished into
a secret place.
You hear footsteps,
then voices.
You sit motionless,
your heart beats
frantically.
Nothing to do
but wait...
and wait...
and wait...
Someone throws
open the door.
"Found You!"
They scream
Now to find another
hiding spot.
