A free verse poem about how sunshine can brighten a drab day. |
| Overcast and rainy, the day is another in a long procession of gray and drab days. June set a record for rainy days, and July is following suit. I sit looking out my kitchen window at the drizzle falling. My mood matches the weather. Suddenly, the cloud cover parts and a golden ray of sunshine fills the yard, making the world dazzle, as the sun’s bright smile drives away the gloom. My spirit soars at the sight. Later, as I sit in the den contemplating some profound thing or another, my Linda enters the room. Our eyes lock; she smiles … pure sunshine! May her smile ever warm my heart so.
