A concise piece about a person who was, at the time, metaphorically drowning.

Fear is a pool around me,
and I’m drowning,
Gasping for breath,
The flame inside me
Flickers.
Invisible hands grasp and submerge this blaze of
Life.
A scream for help
escapes my lips,
and echoes
A melancholy note
Creeping
under my skin
Consuming
Faith.
