He lies trapped
under wooden desk.
His athletic body, weak,
thick calves exposed
by blood- stained khaki shorts.

A Reporter’s Father
stated dead
Monday morning
I walk into Channel 8 news room
Prepare my weather forecast.
BREAKING NEWS!!
Virginia Tech is under attack;
my father killed teaching
quantum physics.
Classroom door barricaded
by daddy's chest.
His autopsy,
16 bullets to stomach, lungs, heart.

A Student’s Fiancé
found sleeping in red painted sheets,
My fiancé identified by her 2 carat diamond.
Her straight nose bruised,
fresh scabs dress her face.
Her father will not walk her down the aisle;
I do not speak my vows.
Her bouquet
pink roses, white lilies,
rest across her polished cherry casket.
