In closet dark for safety's there
A bottle speaks the father's mind

Quiet now, lest he find
The setting of their secret lair
Hide! Hide! The children cry

The carpet stained with red port wine
Heavy footsteps on the stair
A bottle speaks the father's mind

Hoping to escape this time
Mother's gone, her children scared
Hide! Hide! The children cry

Tear the house apart to find
Rant and rave, the demon's there
A bottle speaks the father's mind

Soon he will be unaware
Passed out in his favorite chair
Hide! Hide! The children cry
A bottle speaks the father's mind
