What a poem means to me

My thougts on what a poem is.

To display your heart
To show your soul
To express what is inside
The feeling of being bold

To let down all barriers
To let all take a peek
To show through words
What your heart seeks

To write of your hunger
To write of your desires
To write of your dreams
The things that set you on fire

To find the words
That are unspoken
To share with strangers
But never friends

To find a rhyme
To express all is not fine
To use your words
To share your pain

To share you tears
To share your shame
To share you’re hurt
Where no one is to blame

To clear the mind
To release the hurt
To banish your demons
All the things you can not mention

To write till your head is clear
Till your heart is free
Till again you can breathe
To feel again clean
