A mongoose with a death-wish |
| This was written in response to a prompt to write a poem and a piece of prose relating to the following article: http://www.wildlife-pictures-online.com/mongoose.html The prose has also been posted: "Mongoose Madness" *** The sleepwalking mongoose Nearly met his demise When he woke in a lion pride; Wandering amongst predators Is never too wise Especially without eyes open wide! As one of them lunged for him He was under their jaws And thought that he’d breathed his last, But the sand cushioned the blow And he escaped through their paws Biting one as he passed. The lion that was bitten Was now REALLY mad So, casting a backward glance, The mongoose ran off, Leaving the lions feeling had, As he led them a merry dance! |
