Love is a matter of the heart,
A matter for which no judgment prevails,
Yet still we hear the angry masses
Screaming words of hate and contempt.

The government tries to place laws upon love,
Telling you who you can and cannot marry
Based solely on gender and their views,
Based upon the opinions of the majority.

People utter cruel and thoughtless words
In an attempt to further degrade those different,
But those words give them reason to rebel,
Give them purpose in their search for wholeness.

Love used to be accepted no matter what,
But somehow we have regressed,
Judging and condemning those different from ourselves
Until the only “right” is that of heterosexuality.

We must once more progress
Because people’s notions are becoming null,
There is no true right or wrong in this matter,
There is only the truth behind the feelings.
