My past surrounds me, dragging me down

everywhere I look
a reflection of my failures
the world a mirror
what it shows I can't avoid
wasted chances, old heartbreak
thrown back at me
no matter where I turn
I can't escape it all,
old wounds never heal
the feelings never fade
hope is disappearing
swallowed by the void
of my own creation
