Never forget the reasons why!
I shall not pass this way again,
least not in any earthen form
for my life ended late last night
in a far away land whose heartblood is torn.

I died on the side of a dark sandy road,
I died in a jungle by sniper fire,
I died in a foxhole on Christmas Eve,
I died after tripping an invisible wire.

I cannot reach you to say goodbye,
my last letter was shredded by cannon blast.
Never again shall I feel your warmth,
nor ever again feel your loving caress.

I died when my ship was bombed from above,
I died when my parachute was shot from my back,
I died when my outpost was overrun,
I died dragging a wounded buddy back.

I fought for my country, my right and my pride,
I'm an American soldier, defending my land.
I paid forward the debt that all of us owe,
remembering American ends in I Can!

I died on a beachfront in bloody mud,
I died in a prison camp from terrorist abuse,
I died with my boots on, my flag in my heart,
I died fighting for freedom, that's the God's honest truth!
