Many meanings lay within the words. Enjoy.
Long ago a dragon dwelled in the forest deep
All the lords and ladies in the land did weep

Behold the knight bold and true
Who lanced the dragon straight through

Great cheers arose from the people
Even from the church steeple

The beast from the land was gone
Happiness would linger to the last dawn

One day the knight seemed quite odd
A cantakerous old sod

Upon removing his helm we all saw
Twas the dragon we had held in awe

But the lords and ladies were deaf and blind
To the voices all around from their kind

The dragon grew large and bold
Devouring all, young and old

A call through the land
Sought a knight to take a stand

Chivalry came that fateful day
dressed in black upon a bay

Polished armour fresh and new
with his sword the dragon he slew

Lords and ladies so deaf and blind
Raised up and slew the knight so kind

A dragon too for we can not trust
look how his armour had begun to rust

All gathered from far and wide
Reveal what his helm did hide

Twas not a dragon deep inside
But simply what we must all abide

To each and all comes our fate
Regardless of how long we wait
