The Showoff

          Two dozen eggs, arduously hand painted by moi, took their places as wise kings, baby Jesus, and other familiar characters. Grateful that the nativity scene was finished on time for Christmas Day, I anticipated oohs and ahs to roll off tongues. To my dismay, mere minutes before unveiling, baby Jesus prematurely hatched, stealing the show.
