This is a poem about forgiving yourself.
The deceit is slaughtering
The last of my decency.
If only I could confess
And plead guilty to my crimes.

God declares He can forgive
The very worst of sins,
But human beings, not so much -
They're relatively unforgiving.

There are those souls, though
That are capable
Of offering effective pardon
For even the unimaginable.

So before you shoot yourself,
Murdering your spirit,
Contemplate the certainty
That you may be such a soul...
