This was how I felt when my brother died. (REVISED)
Effervescent Despair (REVISED)

What sound do I hear so distinctly?
So deep I feel it shake the marrow in my
very bones?  It sets my structure trembling,
quivering indiscernibly.  Could it be
the steady ring denial has set upon me?

Death robustly tolls the bell, reverberating-
awakening senses numbed by anesthetic bliss.
Pain has sharpened what I see and smell and hear.
All the while the blood that flows within me
feels foreign, perhaps even a bit malevolent.

Bubbling, as if a spritzer made of tiny razors,
scraping through the delicate and paper thin
emotions so often ignored, barely recognized.
Building up behind my sockets, bursting there-
the pressuring sadness- effervescent despair.

Effervescent (Original)

What sound is that I so distinctly hear?
So deep I feel it shake the marrow in my
very bones?  It sets my structure trembling,
quivering inside indiscernibly.  Could it be
the steady ring denial sets upon you?

Death robustly tolls the bell, reverberating-
awakening senses numbed by anesthetic bliss.
Pain sharpens what we see and smell and hear.
All the while the blood that runs in veins of ours
feels foreign, perhaps even a bit malevolent.

Bubbling, as if a spritzer made of tiny razors
scraping through the delicate and paper thin
emotions- not often dealt with or recognized.
Building up behind my sockets, bursting there-
the pressuring sadness- effervescent despair.
