That Cat

This is about ranch living a few years ago.

Stuck out in the camper tonight
Made a fire for all the guys
We're looking for a mountain lion but he's out of sight
He's killing our cattle now if he would just cry!

We've roasted winners over the fire
Put together some good hot dogs
There's a trap made if we fall asleep of bells and wire
If some reason there's not fog

It's going to be a long night out here
Wolves were heard earlier down there
But we have all we need plenty of guns, shells and gear
Of all things I hope one doesn't wander in, a bear

I want that killer cat
It's about midnight and I'm awake
I tried to convince the guys that's a big rat
He hasn't eaten a bull in a week, he'd better not for his sake

We got him and he is dead
He had grabbed at a bull and we saw him
Now I'm going home to bed
He's hanging from a limb
