High Fashion going to the mass market |
| Wearing a designer dress used to be attainable only by those with million dollar bank accounts. Now with so many designers going to the bargain basement,a designer dress is no longer a fantasy but a reasonably priced mass market treasure for those who can't afford the one of a kind works of art seen on the runway. For many fashionistas this is a dream come true but for others it's considered fashion roadkill.Department stores will break the bank either way however despite attracting numbers of new followers, designers risk devaluing their names in favor of department store shelves.Designers like Vera Wang,Luella Bartley, and Erin Fetherston have all made a name for themselves in the high fashion world with their signature looks from runways in New York,London, and Paris, but it's possible that the only thing designer about these lower end collections is the tag emblazoned with the designers name.If these designers continue to design for the masses will they still remain in vogue or will they end up in a bargain bin? |
