Sunrise

it was a fake Sunrise

we'd saved the world
we were the heroes of legends
but the sun never rose
it never stretched beyond the sea
in pure glory
bliss
we were hand in hand when our future approached
happily dreaming
but it never came
the sun stagnated on the lip of the horizon
and we aged
we died
and remained
forever frozen
as the reminders of what happens
when life is perfectly
perfect
