Poem About War Vets |
| "No One Sees Me Anymore" No one now remains to see all the glory of my deeds sitting now with shawl on knees no one seems to feel my needs. Faded eyes and crooked hands worn from wars in foreign lands. memories from that desert sand unforgiving firebrands. I served long and I served well in a place I thought was hell I had to cry and say farewell, there was no tolling of church bells. I rolled today in a great parade with neat young men in bright brigades and soldiers from long past decades who proudly marched with shinning blades. All for freedom this was done those midnight raids and bombing runs the fight was hard, but when we'd won we all laid down our fighting guns. Home now safe, and all secure hoping freedom will endure. For friendship now my eyes implore, but no one sees me anymore.
