Played....hurting.

the truth of the matter is
that you were never there
your heart and mind were elswhere
just pretending that you cared

the memories besiege me
of how it used to be
pain gripping my heart
asking why i just couldnt see

see through all your lies
that to you i was just a game
tossed away like i was nothing
leaving me so ashamed

in silly ignorance i gave you
more than i had ever given before
only to end up with nothing
just my heart, bruised and sore

for i was such a fool
blindly putting my faith in you
only to find you were false
and nothing you said was true

but i take comfort in knowing
that you'll reap what you sow
what goes around comes around
and when it does you'll know

you'll know about the heartache
of a brilliant illusion shattered
you'll know what you should have done
but by then it will not matter
