A soldier's pain

We never know the pain until we place ourselves in those shoes

I have fought wars, man has created
My honor is to man unknown
My life, I give to a country I love
these wounds that surround my body
to honor thee "My beloved country"

My heart knows no fear, for fear is death
My heart knows no love, for love is weakness
"Keep strong, soldier " I sing.
"It will soon be over"
As these eyes slowly close
I lay and wonder
Who will fight for me?

A myriad miles away from home, I lay
My home, My hearts resting place
My love awaits for word of my return
and here I lay
