It happened so quickly, so innocently

I didn't mean to touch your soul,
To feel all that was the essence of you.
I wanted to stay on the outside
Looking in.

I didn't mean for my heart beat
To become yours.
A rhythm so like mine
Beating, beating.

So that when we kissed
Our souls drifted free
To touch
Explore
Elevate
Until the moment
I felt all that was you
Deep and moving
As one.

It was all
And nothing
Always singular
Because I touched your soul.
