Written in the Ae Freslighe poetry style, trying to cope with the need to belong |
In this garden arable, Petunias rampant growing, Empty, hardly bearable, One patch of earth is showing. Sew a flower tropical In fertile soil uncovered. Marvelous and topical, This beauty rediscovered. Breathy gusts toss narcissist Heads, displaying their petals. Withered seedlings coexist- Not one among them settles. Brave, defying gravity, Brilliant petals now extend, Furnishing a cavity. Sweet fragrence will not offend. Wise petunias acquiesce To ask at last a pardon, Save the name with politesse Of the arable garden. ********************************* Contest Prompt Just for any who are interested, the Ae Freslighe uses a very strict format: seven syllables to a line, arranged in quartets, odd line numbers ending in a three-syllable word and even numbers in two-syllables, with the rhyming scheme ABAB CDCD etc. Thank you to sandi_c for finding all this out! |
