Poem inspired by a small piece of music |
| and in that moment everything became c l e a r . . . there was nothing left... we couldn't stop the tears that flowed so readily so quickly and only a whispered apology fell on our hurting ears solitude was a dream we chased for so long an illusion to call our own . . . . . . no one was waiting for us and we were waiting for everything but in the stagnant silence our heartbeats were slowing and light was something we'd never needed or known we laughed bitterly at the fragility the delicate nature of what we had unleashed as we realized the sun would never rise again and death had marked us from the start this was "freedom" and "deliverance" and "everything we wanted" we watched the dust settle on our ignorantly shattered dream and we felt n o t h i n g not even the saddest of songs could match the exquisite agony the elegant anguish of that final word this is all "goodbye" ever meant |
