Our perceptions change, if we see through new eyes
My saintly mother.  What is she doing in all these pictures of people getting together and having a good time?  I guess she never took me with her.  She died before my 9’Th birthday and my recollections of who she was didn’t fit the pictures I found in a box of family photos.  She had friends.  She had an impact on people’s lives besides my own.

Remember.  Remember what’s real.  Do I remember the young boy with the joy flashing from his eyes or do I remember the 50 something grey haired man who has seen his share of struggles and vexing thoughts.  Which is more real?  Does happiness come out of a bottle of pills?  In the Epistles, Paul said I have learned to be content.  What did he mean?  He certainly had his share of vexing thoughts.  Left for dead, shipwrecked, stoned (i.e. with rocks not pills).

Long before we had a Kodak moment, Paul had a clear picture of who he was and was meant to be.  He changed because God in heaven wanted him to and can be quite insistent in getting our intention.  He blinded him with a bright light at noon on the Damascus Road.  That must have been some bright light.  How dull was he to want to hold on to self righteousness and vindictiveness in killing these new Christians when there was something more he wanted for him personally.

I have learned to be content.  There’s more.  There is much more.  Take a look at the pictures of your life right now and see where you’ve been and where you’re going.  I believe that Paul was on the road evangelizing in the way because of what God had made of him.  We need to be the picture of whom God is trying form in us
