glazed and pallid,
glancing out from the top of the front page.
you've never seen him- don't pretend it's such a shame.

with dark-ringed shadows
set with a put-on smile
for who knows when.

just a face-
what a lovely sight-
with her blue eyes
blinking back obvious lies.

just a face
returning a face
in the mirror
from far away.

The steam builds up, and it's gone again.
