A Lamb's Devotion

A poem about a lamb. Alphabet Poem, my first and only.

A lamb is what I am

Because You made me so

Can't be anything else

Don't want to, you know.

Everything else seems to

Fall far from my way

Going to follow my shepherd

Hearing only His call say:

"I will be with you always

Just stay and follow me.

Know me when I call you

Love with all you will be.

My demands are so few

No other yoke is so light

Only mine cleanses you so

Perfect now, pure white.

Queens and Kings will come and go

Reigning only because I allow them to

Stay with me and you'll be safe

Trials will not conquer you

Under my staff you will not break

Very dear you are to me

Will you be my beloved one?"

Xenophobia keeps me to thee

You are the knowledge that makes me wise

Zeniths are nothing without you in my life.



Notes: Written approximately April 17 2005. Was written when I was new to a Christian band called Apologetix, who has a song that I lovingly call "The Lamb Song". For a while I was fascinated with lamb references. All lamb and shepherd references are, of course, religious.
