Dreams are the heart’s way of reminding you of the things you are missing...

Dreams are the heart’s way of reminding you of the things you are missing
They remind you of the things you need
Things you thought you could do without

The other night I dreamt of a man’s embrace
I did not recognize his face but somehow I knew him
The embrace was not sexual
It did not demand anything of me
Just gave comfort and a feeling of peace and serenity

For ten long months I have tried to convince myself that I was beyond those feelings
Convince myself that I am a strong independent woman
That I don’t need a man or his embrace to make me whole

And I am strong and independent
And I don’t need a man to make me whole

But that dream reminded me that that embrace is not just the embrace of a man
It was the embrace of love
Those feelings of comfort, peace and serenity
They are feelings that come from loving
And being loved

And I do need that
I need to love and be loved
I deserve to love and be loved

So I will heed my heart’s reminder
I will seek out that embrace
And turn dream into reality
