A young mother recalls her loss.
Innocent eyes look into mine
adoring, green, with eyelash fine.
These eyes of love pierce deep inside
they see the shame I try to hide.
Such tiny hands reach for my heart
to grasp a love that must not part.

This route I chose, convenience mine
not father, child, nor God divine.
The numbing, deep, but fleeting pain
bore endless, joyless, sorrow's strain.
Longing arms do a soul embrace
so soft the skin, such empty space.

I fall upon my face in tears
Lord trade my life and end the fears.
His gentle, knowing, calming Face
secured Innocent eyes a place.
The Father's grace forgives all sin
Mother, father and child again.
