What Is Not

You tell me it is not love
this thing between us
that draws You and i together
and yet it is more than mere friendship
which heats air and sends sparks

Lust is such a small word to hold what this is not
i sense You like a drumbeat through the earth
like a didgeridoo across the miles
You carry like a low moan across my soul
This thing a pulsing living moment
lasting a lifetime in a breath

But it is not love, You say – and i must agree
having less experience in these matters than You
