Guilt can override love. A mistress feels remorse and compassion for wife over an affair.

I’ve spent so much time thinking about you.
Thoughts spin into dreams,
and I can’t do other things,
but in my heart I know she’ll be
devastated to say the least.

She doesn't deserve this.

What about her, the girl you married?
I don’t feel so good about this, anymore.
It's a true and honest love that I'm after,
and her sadness I can no longer ignore.

On her left hand is a ring that you gave her.
It symbolizes love,
and precious gifts from above.
