I Am...I Said

Well, I was required to write an "I Am" poem for my lit class, so this is what I wrote.

I am a whisper calling lightly in the night
from the south I drift through the air.
Like a turtle, I crawl into my shell
while my shadow lurks nearby.
Yet I am green as the ferns,
gentle and caring.
My fronds are timid.
But nourish them softly
And they will extend to you.
