This poem is about my fathers journey from alcoholic to paraplegic from Godless to Godsent |
| I remember the fear he instilled in me The heartache, the stress, the anxiety He was selfish and restless, panicked and scared But these were the things, that he never shared He drowned them in whiskey, he drowned them in beer Wore a mask of false courage, to hide all his fears The new day would bring, a sober, shy, man Intelligent, good hearted, a head full of plans But he lost his way, sidetracked by the calling Lured by his failure, and the sound of his falling But life has a way, if you live long enough Of self correcting mistakes, and doing what's just One day he found it, the failure he was seeking Little known to him, it was just then his peaking My father was wasted, never did what he should Until waste made him great, now he's my daddy gone good Written By: Jvonne Hubbard-Greenhalgh Date: 9-21-08 |
