A poem about loss of identity, and missed opportunites. |
| Have you seen the sky? The light its casting down, The shade of your skin, The blaze of your eyes. I’m blind. You hid in my mirror In our never-ending game of hide and seek, Spinning out a labyrinth Where we could fold away And become one with the shadows. You reflected my questions right back at me And stole away my ghost for so long, Until I forgot what I looked like And began to resemble you. We grew so close That two became one. Something of us both lost along the way, Something left in my mirror, Something left in your eyes, Now the world’s moved on. Have you seen the sky? It’s dark but night is far away. It’s become our mirror, Reflecting nothing. Reflecting only what it sees with its weary giant eye. |
