The Purpose

Why do you do the things you do?

Men believe to have a purpose,

it helps them breathe

one
breath
after
the
other,

and walk

one
step
after
the
other.

It’s what makes a man what it is.

It learns to walk
Believing
That one day
It will be walking
On water.

It learns to speak
Believing
That one day
It will be talking
To the gods.

In the meantime,

It walks home
Every night
After a day’s work
And talks to its wife
Into not leaving,

Because one day
Things will be better

And they
Will walk on water
And talk to the gods,
Together.

And
It pulls it off
And the wife stays
And makes dinner.

So they eat

One
Bite
After
The
Other

And
Drink their beer

One
Sip
After
The
Other.

And
Go to bed
One day closer
To their purpose.
