Leaden Wings

I feel like this a lot, so here it is. Sorry about the spelling.

Desperate to take flight,
Far away from my terrible plight,
Aching to run away,
Longing to be okay.

I keep falling back down,
Hitting the hardened ground,
Beating the heavy wings,
I only flutter in haphazard rings,

However hard I try,
I just can't seem to fly,
Even with the wind whirling about,
And my lungs bursting with a long held shout.

No matter how forcefully I flap,
I always manage to fall back in the trap,
Jumping from the ledge I plummet and fall,
My Leaden Wings will not fly at all.
