with a sizzle and bang!

Fired from a laughing child's hand
Into the sky on a dark summer night,
Red, white, and blue image of Old Glory.
Everyone mixes and mingles, oohs and ahhs
With watermelon, fried chicken, family friends.
Oh say, can you see flashes of light,
Rolling thunder and man made lightning?
Kids dash around waving sparklers;
Simply Americans enjoying tradition
