Immune to It

in his mystic and confusing way,
"Heartbreak is for Assholes,"
then went on his
presumably un-heartbroken way.

If I were immune to heartbreak,
and never could feel the pain
of lost love,
I would love no more,
and care no less.

The pain polishes
and the jagged edges
add character
to my heart
like the lines on my face,
which are designed,
as it turns out
as a guide path
for tears.
