what i wouldn't

this poem was written in 2007

give to see it all laid bare before me
this country
what it is showing clearly what it is not
mass illusions masquerading deeply rooted delusion
this place i find myself out of all space
of all there is
im here
for this moment

that will pass and be forgotten
eventually
many years from now

and what will it matter
when the sun grows red
and we bathe in an ocean of dead
life
all around
dead

evaporate away
die like a star
fade away
and shine no more
