A woman tries to hide her fears.

Written for "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.

Into the Darkness

Into the darkness she shoved all her fears,
Beneath the clutter of cheap wine and tears.
Locking them up behind a door,
She said I’ll think of them no more.

But her fears refused to go away,
Clammering to be heard each new day.
Fear of rejection, of being alone,
Fear of failure and sins unatoned.

Fear to move on, fear to let go,
Fear of all things she didn’t know.
She drank to drown out all her fears,
Wasting away over the years.

She didn't laugh, she didn't love,
She didn't live, but only shoved.
Shoved her fears beneath the door,
And under the carpet on the floor.

She shoveled her fears and hid them away,
Hoping they’d leave her alone today.
The door is cracked, the frame is weak,
As her attention they clammer to seek.

They whisper their secrets ino her ear,
Bringing to the surface all of her fear.
Reminding her of all that she has lost,
The silence she's seeking, not worth the cost.

She doesn’t laugh, she doesn’t love,
She doesn’t live, but only shoves.
Into the darkness, where she hides all her fears,
Beneath the clutter of cheap wine and tears.
