my first submission...a poem about talking through writing

              Writing

Writing pulls thoughts from within
sends them flowing from my pen
describing my emotions in a way
easier than my voice could say

As I begin to write these words
they take flight like graceful birds
yet deep inside they keep their grip
when I attempt to give them to lip

As you read you'll surely see
the soul within that's really me
but all thoughts are heading south
when I begin to use my mouth

I haven't begun to get a hint
why it's easier to talk in print
I have decided to stop fighting
and to speak through my writing
