What is it in a colour?

Red is a colour that doesn’t really know its boundaries. It screams danger and passion, calling on the adventurous few, ready and willing to take on the challenge. Red cars streak down our motorways, apparently, so we’re told, more at risk than any other. Red is for danger, isn’t it? Red lights, stop signs, all for danger? Or is it calling us to reason, to stop, take stock and think of the potential ahead. For all its reputation, is it red for danger? Is it “red” that urges people to foolhardy adventure. Or is red, perhaps, simply a colour? One with emotive connotations, but still nothing more than a colour?
