I wrote this for my husband on Valentine's Day 1984. So far, so good.

Lover's Guarantee

For as long as we are worthy of each others trust
and honest with ourselves as well as in our relationship with each other
and tend to our own instinctive need for privacy

For as long as we care for each others feelings
guard our rights to our own and each others opinions
and support each others human rights

For as long as our demands are reasonable
we fight only to improve our relationship
and not to try to gain control over each other

For as long as our home is a shared haven with equal
responsibilities as well as benefits
and it is a refuge from unfair criticism as well as unfair demands of the world

For as long as our dreams, our hopes are shared
our hearts our bodies yearn for each other
and no other person means more to us

For as long as it is understood that this guarantee can not cover damages caused by;
abuse, misuse or neglect my love for you is here-by guaranteed My friend. My love.
