It is now, as it was in the beginning . . . the Ten Commandments rewritten.
Promises, Promises

Oh all that is, who lives in my heart
I hear the ache in your voice!

I promise to know there is only You,
and You are an almighty God.

I must be careful to know only You,
and avoid addictions or cravings.

When I speak of You it should be for Good,
and not to further my motives.

At least once per week I will make time to think
about You, my Self, and these promises.

I will spend time with mother, and
take care of father, as You would take care of me.

I will try not to take a life needlessly,
and my actions will always be thoughtful.

I will try to be faithful to my commitments
with my family and You and my Self.

I will not take that which does not belong
to me, in my actions or my heart.

I will not tell falsehoods about myself,
other people, or others’ actions.

I will not be jealous of the many blessings
that You have reigned on other souls.

I will love You always, as well as my neighbor
as much as I love my Self,

and my yes will mean yes,
and my no will mean no.

Yes please, help make it so!
